Churros! - Microwave Monday

With theme parks being closed, I have been craving churros. I miss walking through Fantasyland, churro in hand, watching strangers run in all directions with smiling faces. Looking to my microwave for inspiration, I made Churro Bites!

Ingredients:

  • 1/8 cup of Water

  • 3/4 teaspoon of Sugar

  • 1 pinch of Salt

  • 3/4 teaspoon of Vegetable Oil

  • 1/8th cup of All Purpose Flour

  • 1 pinch of Cinnamon

  • 1/8th cup of Frosted Flakes cereal

  • 1 Egg

Procedure

  1. In a microwave safe mug or bowl, put the water and oil and microwave for 30 seconds.

  2. While this is cooking, combine the flour, salt, and sugar.

  3. Mix the flour mixture in with the hot water mixture with the back of a wooden spoon. Everything should be fully combined and should start to get some elasticity (approximately 1 minute). Refrigerate for 10 minutes.

  4. Separate the dough mixture into three separate parts and form into balls.

  5. Crack the egg into a bowl and beat.

  6. In another bowl, slightly crush the Frosted Flakes and mix with the cinnamon.

  7. Drop each ball into the egg. Rotate to fully coat. Then, drop into the Frosted Flakes mixture and fully coat. Put into another microwave safe bowl or mug. Repeat this process for the other two parts.

  8. Microwave the coated dough for 1 minute.

  9. Enjoy and reminisce of theme parks!
